How the Saudi end-of-service award works
The award builds up with each year of service: half a month's wage for each of the first 5 years, then a full month's wage for each year after that.
Award = last wage × (½ × years up to 5 + 1 × years after 5)
If you resign
- Under 2 years of service: no award
- 2 to 5 years: one third of the award
- 5 to 10 years: two thirds of the award
- 10 years or more: the full award
Worked example
On a last wage of SAR 8,000 after 7 years, the full award is 5 × ½ × 8,000 + 2 × 8,000 = SAR 36,000. Resigning after 7 years gives two thirds of that: SAR 24,000.
