How days between dates are counted

The calculator counts calendar days from the start date to the end date. Choosing to include the end date adds one day, which is the usual way to count a period of leave or a contract.

Worked example

From 1 January to 31 December 2026 is 364 days, or 365 counting the end date. That full year has 261 working days on a Saturday–Sunday weekend.

Questions people ask

Does the count include both dates?

By default it counts the days from the start date up to the end date, not including the end date, the way most people count. Choose "include the end date" to add it, for example when counting days of leave.

Which days are working days?

Monday to Friday by default. Pick Friday–Saturday for Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, or a one-day weekend if that is your working week.

Are public holidays taken off?

Not yet. Public holidays differ by country and year, so subtract them yourself for now.
