Each person pays
AED 104.50
- Tip
- AED 38.00
- Total with tip
- AED 418.00
With a 10% tip the bill comes to AED 418.00, so each of 4 people pays AED 104.50.
How it's worked out
- Tip
AED 380.00 × 10%AED 38.00 - Total
AED 380.00 + AED 38.00AED 418.00 - Each share
AED 418.00 ÷ 4AED 104.50
How it works
Each share = (bill + bill × tip) ÷ people
Worked example
A bill of AED 380 with a 10% tip comes to AED 418. Split 4 ways that's AED 104.50 each, or AED 105 each rounded up, AED 2 extra in all.
Questions people ask
How much should I tip?
Customs differ: around 10% is common in the Gulf and Pakistan when service isn't already included, and 15% to 20% in the US. Check the bill for a service charge first.
How do I split a bill with a tip?
Add the tip to the bill, then divide by the number of people. AED 380 with a 10% tip is AED 418, or AED 104.50 each for 4 people.
Why round up?
Rounding each share up to a whole note makes paying in cash easier; the calculator shows how much extra that adds.
