Month along the bottom, saved up the side.
- Counts only what you put aside. No interest or investment growth is assumed.
How the plan is worked out
Monthly saving = (goal − already saved) ÷ months
Worked example
Saving for a Rs 500,000 goal with Rs 50,000 already put aside leaves Rs 450,000 to go. Over 18 months that is Rs 25,000 a month, or about Rs 5,769 a week.
Questions people ask
How much should I save each month?
Take what you still need (the goal minus what you have) and divide it by the number of months. Rs 450,000 still to save over 18 months is Rs 25,000 a month.
Does this include interest?
No. It counts only the money you put aside, so the plan works the same in a current account, a committee (BC) or a cash envelope.
How can I reach the goal sooner?
Use Compare scenarios: try fewer months, or a bigger amount already saved, and see the monthly figure for each side by side.
