Appliance Electricity Cost Calculator
See how many units (kWh) an air-conditioner, heater or any appliance uses, and what it costs to run per day, month and year.
On the appliance's label. A 1.5-ton inverter AC draws roughly 1,000 to 1,800 W while cooling.
From your electricity bill. One unit = 1 kWh.

Running 1,500 W for 8 hours a day uses 360 units a month, about Rs 21,600.00 at Rs 60.00 a unit.
How it's worked out
- Units a day
1,500 W × 8 h ÷ 1,00012 kWh - Units a month
12 × 30 days360 kWh - Cost a month
360 × Rs 60.00Rs 21,600.00
- Uses a flat price per unit. Tiered tariffs, fixed charges and taxes on your bill change the real total.
The formula
Units a day = watts × hours ÷ 1,000 · Cost = units × price per unit
Worked example
A 1,500 W appliance running 8 hours a day uses 12 units a day, or 360 units over 30 days. At Rs 60 a unit that's Rs 21,600 a month.
Questions people ask
