How GPA is worked out
GPA = Σ (grade points × credit hours) ÷ Σ credit hours
Worked example
A (3 credits), B+ (3), A− (4), B (3) and C+ (2) give 12 + 9.99 + 14.68 + 9 + 4.66 = 50.33 quality points over 15 credit hours: a GPA of 3.36. With a previous CGPA of 3.00 over 30 credit hours, the new CGPA is (50.33 + 90) ÷ 45 = 3.12.
