Two different marlas

The marla isn't one fixed size. Housing schemes in Lahore and Islamabad mostly use 225 sq ft. The traditional revenue marla, used in land records, is 272.25 sq ft, which makes exactly 160 marla to an acre. Always check which one your plot, file or deed uses.

1 kanal = 20 marla · 1 acre = 43,560 sq ft · 1 sq yd = 9 sq ft · 1 sq m = 10.764 sq ft

Worked example

A 1 kanal house in a society using 225 sq ft marla is 20 × 225 = 4,500 sq ft, or 500 square yards and about 418 square metres.
